ANCASTER, ON - Redeemer soccer welcomed the Sheridan Bruins Tuesday night to David Mantel Field. Sheridan entered the match in fourth place of the OCAA West, presenting a top challenge for the Royals as they push to climb the table.
Prior to the match, the Royals took the opportunity to celebrate the graduating senior athletes of the Redeemer soccer programs. The men's soccer team graduates five athletes:
Stephen Barnhoorn,
Liam Dunleavey,
Eli Mudde,
Derek Proulx and
Brendan Vanderkruk.
The Royals' senior night was not the result they had hoped for. The Bruins opened the match early, finding the back of the net in the first three minutes. Sheridan added three more before halftime to gain a commanding lead.
Redeemer fought back in the second half and established possession.
Leandro Alves scored two goals for the Royals, but the Bruins held off the late offensive push.
Sheridan closed the match with a 5-2 victory over the Royals.
