Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

VanRaalte Records Back-to-Back Double-Doubles in Loss to Hawks

ANCASTER, ON - The Redeemer Royals women's basketball team faced a tough test on Wednesday night, November 12, as they hosted the nationally ranked No. 8 Humber Hawks. Humber entered the matchup with a perfect 4-0 record, showcasing why they remain one of the premier programs in the country.

The Royals welcomed back guard Faith Noble, who made her first appearance of the season and provided a boost of energy to the lineup. Despite the lift, Redeemer struggled to find their rhythm early and fell behind quickly as Humber applied relentless defensive pressure.

The Hawks' aggressive on-ball defense proved to be the difference, forcing 38 turnovers from Redeemer, while the Royals managed to cause only 17 on the other end. Humber's depth and scoring versatility were also on display, as they built on an eight-point first-quarter lead to take a 21-point advantage at halftime. The visitors continued to extend their lead through the second half, eventually securing a 79-32 victory.

While the result wasn't what Redeemer had hoped for, there were bright spots for the Royals. First-year standout Sophia VanRaalte continued her impressive start to the season, recording her second consecutive double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds to lead the team once again.

The Royals will look to regroup and carry forward the positives from recent games as they continue their OCAA campaign.
