Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

Vreugdenhil's Double-Double Not Enough to Lead Royals Past Bruins

BRAMPTON, ON - The Redeemer women's basketball team returned to action Wednesday evening for a pivotal mid-week matchup against the Sheridan Bruins. With both teams searching for momentum, Redeemer entering at 1–5 and Sheridan at 1–4, the first meeting of the season carried extra weight for each side.

Redeemer opened the game with energy and composure, edging out a 12–11 lead after the first quarter. The Royals defended well early, limiting Sheridan's rhythm and generating enough offensive looks to stay in front.

The Bruins gradually settled in during the second frame, chipping away at the small deficit and ultimately taking a narrow 29–28 advantage into halftime. With both teams struggling to find consistent scoring, the contest remained wide open heading into the break.

But the third quarter proved to be the turning point. Sheridan erupted offensively, outscoring Redeemer 24–11 in the frame. The surge pushed the Bruins ahead 53–39, creating a gap the Royals couldn't close in the final 10 minutes. Neither team shot efficiently throughout the game, but Sheridan's third-quarter run made the difference.

Despite the loss, Redeemer saw a standout performance from Talia Vreugdenhil, who continued her strong season with a double-double, 12 points and 13 rebounds, leading the Royals on both ends of the floor.
Redeemer will look to regroup and bounce back as they continue their push through the early stretch of the season.

Redeemer's next match is against the Fanshawe Falcons on November 29th. The match against the visiting Falcons is the last of the fall semester for the Royals.
