BUFFALO, NY – The Redeemer Royals hockey team traveled to Buffalo State University to take on the Bengals on Friday night.
The Royals looked to remain perfect on the season after starting 2-0-0, as they were looking to continue the hot start to the season.
And continue, they did. Keeping up with their habit of scoring early and often, rookie Carter Dwornikiewicz buried his third of the season, unassisted, less than six minutes to the contest.
Just over a minute later, Hayden Fernhout would find the back of the net, extending the Royals early lead to 2-0.
Buffalo State would draw back within one during the last minute of the frame, cutting the lead to 2-1 heading into the break.
The second period saw both teams dig in. No goals going either way for the vast majority of the frame.
However, that would change drastically near the end of the frame. Logan Haanstra would break the scoreless frame with a goal with under three minutes remaining, restoring the two-goal lead.
With 15 seconds left in the second period, Nolan Lodder would extend the lead to three with his second point in the game. It was 4-1 going into the third period.
And that's how the game would end. Both teams entered a stalemate in the third that saw no goals. The Royals were able to lock it down and not let the Bengals try and make a game of it.
Quinn McCulloch had another stellar performance in net for the Royals, turning away 34 of the Bengals 35 shots, good for a .971 SV%.
Redeemer remains perfect, now 3-0-0 on the season and look to continue rolling as the season schedule continues to be released!
