HAMILTON, ON - The Redeemer Royals traveled to Mohawk to take on the Mountaineers on Wednesday night.
The Mountaineers floored a solid squad last season, and this game was going to be a good test to open the season with a new-look team.
The first quarter finished with the Royals leading 29-23. The scoring was very spread out, with five Royals scoring 4+ PTs in the opening frame.
The second quarter saw Mohawk storm back, taking a 54-50 lead into halftime.
The third quarter was really where the Mountaineers flexed their muscles, outscoring Redeemer 36-18 to really take control of the game.
The Royals had a solid fourth quarter, outscoring the Mountaineers 24-19, but it was ultimately not enough as they fell 109-92.
Still, a lot of good to look at out of the game for Redeemer. Rookie Lucas Macklem potted 26 PTs off the bench, and Parker Davis put up 18 PTs.
The Royals will look to bounce back at Fanshawe on Saturday, October 24. Tipoff at 3:00pm.
