ANCASTER, ON - The Redeemer Royals closed out their home schedule Saturday night against the Lambton Lions in a matchup that doubled as Senior Night, celebrating graduating athletes
Parker Davis,
Jeremiah Della Foresta,
Gabriel Della Foresta,
Jackson Thackwray, Ben Dyck,
Armeen Fazelipour, and
Jason Usuomon.
The opening quarter was played at a blistering pace. Both teams pushed in transition, trading buckets early before Lambton began to find separation. A highlight moment came courtesy of
Kaiden King-Stewart, who brought the crowd to its feet with a thunderous one-handed slam. Despite the spark, the Lions carried a 31-21 lead after one.
Lambton continued to apply pressure in the second quarter, stretching the advantage to 51-34 at halftime.
Parker Davis kept the Royals within striking distance, pouring in 14 first-half points as he edged closer to clinching the OCAA West Scoring Title. His primary competition for the crown, Tyrelle Miller of the Lions, countered with 11 points in the half, including a momentum-shifting four-point play in the second quarter where he converted an and-one three-pointer.
Redeemer showed resilience coming out of the break. The Royals tightened up defensively and found better rhythm offensively, outscoring Lambton 25-19 in the third quarter to chip away at the deficit. The graduating group led the push, determined to make their final home appearance a memorable one.
Ultimately, Lambton's depth and efficiency proved too much down the stretch. The Lions regained control in the fourth quarter and secured a 92-70 victory.
Davis finished with 24 points, only 14 shy of the 1000-point mark in his collegiate career. Davis has 916 points in a Royals uniform, having spent his sophomore season with the McMaster Mauraders.Â
The Royals are back in action tomorrow at 3:00 pm when they host the St.Clair Saints.
