SARNIA, ON – The Redeemer Royals women's soccer team arrived at Lambton looking to bounce back from a 5-0 defeat at St. Clair, and bounce back they did.
It only took ten minutes for Kendall Bezemer to find the back of the net, assisted by Joelle Mitton. (Get used to reading that name).
The game settled down for nearly twenty minutes, but then the floodgates opened...
During the 29th minute, Mitton buried a feed from goalkeeper Jasmine DeBoer to double the Royals lead. Just two minutes later, the duo double dip and connected for another goal!
In the 33rd minute, midfielder Brooke Jurjens puts away another Joelle Mitton assist, and just like that it was 4-0 Royals.
DeBoer makes 3 saves to keep the clean sheet heading into halftime.
In the 53rd minute, Joelle Mitton would complete her hattrick. With that goal, the fourth-year forward surpassed her goal total from last season in just over a game and a half!
Up 5-0, the Royals did not leave anything up to chance. They locked down the lions and ensured they didn't give up much. Royals' goalkeeper Sarah deJong, who came in for DeBoer to start the second half, only had to make 3 saves as Redeemer routs Lambton to claim their first victory of the season!
The Royals will look forward to their home opener at David Mantel Field on Thursday, September 17th, where they'll play host for the Humber Hawks.
