What made you begin playing your sport? How old were you?
I grew up playing soccer, but quickly realized i was taller than most kids my age so my parents signed me up for house league basketball at the age of about 7. Here I am now, no longer the tallest, but still playing basketball.
Who is the most influential person in your life?
I don’t really have a single most influential person in my life. Many people have been influential and have played a huge role in my development as not only as athlete but as a person. Apart from the obvious answer - family, one person that stands out is a coach of mine that passed away suddenly, Roderick Webb. I knew him for a short amount of time, but he taught me many lessons and gave me many memories that I still cling to to this day.
What is the most important lesson you have learned from being a student-athlete at Redeemer University?
The most important lesson that I have learned from being a student-athlete at Redeemer University is that life happens. From dislocating your shoulder in a game on your birthday, to missing out on an entire year due to a global pandemic. Life happens, but it goes on, even when you think everything sucks.
Do you have any pre game rituals?
Before a game I like to shower and listen to music. Ideally I also like to get shots up a few hours before the game, but that isn’t always possible with road games or other events going on in the building.
Favourite meal?
Anything pasta related.
What would people be surprised to learn about you?
I have an extra bone in my arm, and I broke it in my last year in high school. I have X-rays to prove it!
What is your favorite movie?
If I had to pick, Interstellar.
What is something on your bucket list?
Backpack across Europe with friends.
If you were singing at a karaoke night, what song would you sing?
Bohemian Rhapsody by Queen.
If you could meet any person, dead or alive, who would it be? Why?
Derrick Rose. I would meet him because he has been my favourite basketball player for a decade, and I believe it would be valuable to meet him and have a conversation and pick his brain. Seeing him go through injuries and stay strong mentally is motivating, and being able to learn and take things from a humble person like him would be surreal.
2019-2020
The Royals are very pleased to welcome Goran to our squad. Playing his high school basketball at Cardinal Newman under coaches Jeff Joseph, Andrew Sergi, and current Niagara River Lions coach, Victor Raso, Goran has a very good understanding of the game. He is well composed, while intense. After an injury cut his first year short at Sir Wilfred Laurier, Goran will now look to play a major role with the Roayls.
