Royals Week in Review

Strong competition has Royals struggling out of the gate to start 2017

| Box Score 2 It was a tough opening week of the second semester for the Redeemer Royals varsity programs. A 2-6 record for the basketball and volleyball teams in the first 8 games of 2017 would normally indicated a slow start out of the gate for Redeemer. However, the Royals matched up against some of the top teams in the country during that stretch, facing 3 top #3 ranked teams in the Country.

Men's Basketball faced and lost to the #2 (Sheridan Bruins) and #10 (Humber Hawks) ranked teams in the country. Women's Basketball squared off against the #1 (Humber Hawks) ranked team in the country before defeating the Sheridan Bruins easily on the weekend. Women's Volleyball lost to a tough Fanshawe Falcons team before knocking off the Sheridan Bruins on Friday night. Finally, Men's Volleyball fell to the #3 (Fanshawe Falcons) ranked team in the country before dropping a marathon match on the weekend to the Sheridan Bruins.

The week ahead see's the volleyball teams host the unranked Conestoga Condors on Thursday. Basketball travels to Niagara on Wednesday before hosting the St. Clair Saints on Saturday. Both the Niagara Men's Basketball team and the St. Clair Women's Basketball team are nationally ranked.
