PLAYOFF PICTURE CLEAR FOR WOMEN'S & MEN'S BASKETBALL

Basketball playoffs set for this upcoming Saturday

With the final pair of regular season games played last night at Redeemer University College, the Royals basketball programs now understand their 2017-18 OCAA playoff fate. The Lady Royals will be on the road Saturday while the Men's team will host, both competing in a playoff crossover match.

After a loss to the top ranked Humber Hawks on Wednesday night, the women's basketball team locked up 7th place in the OCAA West and a date against the Seneca Sting this Saturday. The Royals will travel to Toronto to take on the Sting at 2pm.

The Royal finished up their 2017-18 campaign with a 9-11 record while Seneca secured 2nd place in the OCAA East with a 13-4 record.

On the men's side, the Royals had already secured top spot in the OCAA West before last night's finale against the Hawks. However, the Royals kept their foot on the gas, grabbing their record 19th win of the season.

Redeemer will host their playoff crossover game this Saturday at 4pm. Their opponent will be the 9-11 Loyalist Lancers from Belleville. The Lancers finished 7th in the OCAA East.

A win for the Women's and Men's Basketball teams would mean advancing to the Championship and a quarterfinal date next week. A loss for either team would mean an end to their 2017-18 season.

Both Men's and Women's Basketball Championships get underway next week, March 1-3, 2018. The Niagara Knights are hosting the men's event, while the Humber Hawks are hosting the women's.
