After back-to-back losses against a pair of teams below them in the standings, Redeemer rebounded Saturday with an impressive win against the CCAA #12 Conestoga Condors.
The Condors, sitting in 2nd place in the OCAA West, defeated the Royals earlier in the season in Ancaster. The Royals returned the favor on Saturday in Kitchener, defeating the home team 3-2.Â
Redeemer dropped matches to Sheridan (Jan. 18) and Fanshawe (Jan. 22) before their impressive rebound this past weekend. Conestoga had a record of 9-3 entering the match, while Redeemer was 8-5. The win for the Royals moves Redeemer into a tie for 2nd place for the time-being with Conestoga, both with 18 points. Â
After falling behind in sets twice in the match, 1-0 and 2-1, Redeemer battled back both times to even the score, eventually taking the 5th set 15-10. Other set scores were 20-25, 25-22, 22-25, 25-14.
OCAA leading scorer
Brayden Stoffers was once again explosive for the Royals. Stoffers finished with 17 kills, 7 aces, and 1 block for 25 total points.
Daniel Wolfert was also exceptional for Redeemer, recording 46 total assists.Â
Redeemer will now sit idle until Friday when they host their Hamilton rival Mohawk Mountaineers. Mohawk enters the match with a 7-7 record, having lost their last 3.Â
