ANCASTER, ON - The Redeemer University men's volleyball team (4-3 OCAA) fell to the Niagara Knights by the score of 3-1 Saturday afternoon at the Redeemer Athletic Centre.
Redeemer opened the match with a 25-21 win in set one before dropping three straight sets by scores of 29-27, 25-22, 25-22.Â
Leading the Royals offense was third year
Brett Jenkins (Peterborough, ON) and first year
Derick Breukelman (Burlington, ON) who both registered 12 kills each and chipped in with 10 and 11 digs respectively for the double-doubles. Second year liberoÂ
Carsen Grim (Langley, BC) recorded 16 digs while second year setter
Andrew Van Dyke (Guelph, ON) added 36 assists in the loss.
The Knights were led by Elijah Bugiardini and Dallas Melnick who recorded 11 kills each in the victory.Â
For the match, Redeemer hit .186 adding 43 kills with 24 errors on 102 attempts. Niagara added 41 kills with 14 errors on 88 attempts for a .307 hitting percentage.Â
The Royals return to action Tuesday, November 22nd at 8pm when they host the Humber Hawks at the Redeemer Athletic Centre. They will wear special MOVEMBER Jerseys which will be auctioned off after the game.
