Redeemer women's volleyball drops five set decision to Cambrian

ANCASTER, ON - The Redeemer University women's volleyball team dropped a 3-2 decision to the Cambrian College Golden Shield Saturday afternoon at the Redeemer athletic complex. Set scores were 25-21, 21-25, 19-25, 25-22, 13-15.

The Royals were led by the trio of third year Rachel Annett and second years Joelle Lammers and Alanna Heidburt who all recorded 12 kills each. Annett and Lammers added 10 kills while Heidburt collected seven. Second year Kate DeJong added eight kills and 17 digs while third year Alyson Stolte chipped in with five kills. Libero duo of Avery Surette and Carlene Cecchelli combined for 19 digs while third year setter Brooklyn Van Rooyen finished with a game high 44 assists and six digs.

Cambria was led by Brielle Chicoine who recorded 17 kills and Jersey Masson who finished with 11.

For the match, Redeemer hit .244 adding 50 kills 21 errors on 119 attempts. Cambrian collected 44 kills 15 errors on 125 attempts for a decimal .232 heading percentage.

The Royals next action is October 25th when they take on the Fanshawe Falcons on the road.
