The Redeemer University women's basketball team defeated the Sheridan Bruins 88-50 on the road Wednesday night.
Late in the first quarter the score was tied 10-10 before Redeemer put together a 17-1 run to go up 27-11 midway through the second quarter. The Royals led 40-19 at the half and extended that lead to 18, on route to their first conference victory.
The Royals had four players in double figures led by fifth year
Jessica Angelini who recorded 17 points, including 2-for-5 from long range and 7-for-11 from the free throw line. Third year
Mia Palango registered 16 points, seven rebounds and seven steals. Second year
Talia Vreugdenhil added 15 points and 11 boards while second year
Sydney Drain contributed with 10 points.
Katie Lau and
Steffanie Blair both chipped in with nine points each to round out the leaders.
Leading Sheridan were Beyonce Ho-Sang and Giasophia Aoude who recorded 19 and 11 points respectively
For the game, Redeemer shot 40.0% (32-80) from the field, 25.0% (4-16) from three point land and 50.0% (20-40) from the free throw line. Sheridan went 21-60 (35.0%) from the floor, 25.0 (3-12) from long range and 31.3% (5-16) from the charity stripe.
