ANCASTER, ON - The Redeemer University Royals men's soccer team defeated the Lambton Lions by the score of 3–0 Saturday afternoon at David Mantel Field.
The Royals open the scoring at the 43rd minute mark as second year Gerrit Oldejans (Dundas, ON) added his first goal of the season.
14 minutes into the second half, Royals captain Hunter Packalen (Milton, ON) would knock one off the far post off a corner kick and into the back of the goal. Just over a minute later, Packalen setup second year Derek Proulx (Burlington, ON) who would beat Lambton starter Ben Crombeen to go up 3-0.
In goal, Redeemer goalkeepers would share the duties with first year starter Matthew Derks (Burlington, ON) playing 60 minutes and third year Adam Katerberg (Listowel, ON) coming in for the final 30 minutes. They would combined for the shutout. Lion's Crombeen recorded eight saves in the loss.
The Royals outshot Lambton by a 13-2 margin.
The Royals return to action next week on the road when they take on the number one ranked Humber Hawks Wednesday, September 20. They will host the St. Clair Saints on Friday, September 22nd at 7pm at David Mantel Field.
