HAMILTON, ON - The Redeemer University men's soccer team came out on top with a 2-1 road victory over the Mohawk Mountaineers Wednesday night at Tim Horton's Field.
Redeemer opened the scoring 10 minutes into the opening half as second year
Derek Proulx setup third year captain
Hunter Packalen who buried it past the Mohawk goalkeeper Oliver Steinke for his second goal of the campaign.
In the 30th minute, the Royals would take a 2-0 lead as third year
Gerrit Oldejans found the back of the net, assisted by Packalen.
Down two goals late in the contest, Mohawk's Nicholas Tavares would make it a one goal game, 2-1, as he beat Redeemer first year starter
Matthew Derks. Mohawk continued to apply pressure in the final 10 minutes, but it was the Redeemer defense standing strong on route to their second OCAA victory.
Derks registered four saves for the victory while Steinke collected three saves in the loss.
Redeemer returns to action October 3rd when they host the Conestoga Condors in a key OCAA West matchup. Game time is scheduled for 8pm.
