ANCASTER, ON Redeemer Men's Basketball, hosted the Conestoga Condors Wednesday evening. The Royals have started to see Coach Steven Hopkins' system reap its rewards. The Royals have adopted the new coaching system and have rounded the curve of the growing pains that come with a young team and new staff. The Royals have been dominant in the second half of the season and looked to continue this trend against the Condors.
Wednesday night was all Royals. The Royals fast-paced play was too much for the Condors. Redeemer jumped to an early lead and continued to dominate the match till the final buzzer. Redeemer closed the game out with a 50-point win over Conestoga.Â
The Royals were led by Robert Mannella who posted 24 points and shot a lights-out 6/11 from beyond the arc. Seven Royals posted double-digit points, Mannella (24), Alex Naovarath (15), Armeen Fazelipour (12), Adam Pavlik (10), Will Dykstra (15), Josh Carbonel (11) and Ty Storie (10). Jackson Thackwray conducted the offense with 12 assists. Thackwray's 12 dimes slot him in a tie for second-most assists in a single match in program history. Thackwray ties 3x All-Canadian Rayvon Higdon.Â
The Royals post a dominant team victory and they search to ride this wave into a playoff position. Redeemer travels to Fanshawe to take on the Falcons on February 1st, 2024.
