Box Score HAMILTON, ON. It was a cross-town rivalry game for Royals Women's Volleyball as they played the Mohawk Mountaineers Saturday afternoon. Mohawk has been off to another impressive season as they sit in 3rd place with an 8-5 record. The last time the two sides squared off, Mohawk captured a four-set victory over the Royals at Redeemer.
Redeemer started the match firing. The Royals startled the Mountaineers and won the first set 25-21. The Royals also snatched the first set against the Mountaineers in their fall matchup.
In set two, Redeemer continued its early success. The Royals cruised to a second-set victory 25-15.
Joelle Lammers capped off set number two with a massive over-pass kill.
The Royals entered the third set determined to make a statement by sweeping a top divisional opponent. Redeemer led throughout the entire third set maintaining a small lead. Redeemer found themselves with a 22-21 lead. The subsequent point was a mega-rally that the Royals stole from Mohawk. A 23-21 lead for Redeemer and the Royals had their eyes set on the finish line. The Royals secured a statement 3-0 win on the road of the Mohawk Mountaineers. Redeemer will look to catch fire following this massive win against a top divisional opponent. The Royal's next match is against the Cambrian Shield next Friday. The match against the Shield will have significant playoff implications as the two sides battle for final seeding.
