Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Royals Flawless Free Throw Shooting Not Enough to Surpass Bruins

The Redeemer Royals Men's Basketball team couldn't keep pace with the Sheridan Bruins on the road Wednesday night, falling 100-77 in a game that saw the Bruins overpower the Royals in key areas. Despite some strong individual performances, Redeemer struggled with rebounding and defense, allowing Sheridan to control the game for most of the night.

It was a tough opening quarter for the Royals, as Sheridan jumped out to a 27-16 lead with their fast-paced offense and physical play. Redeemer had trouble getting things going on offense, with Sheridan's defense forcing tough shots and limiting the Royals' opportunities.

But the Royals didn't let the slow start rattle them. In the second quarter, they found their rhythm. Parker Davis, who was active all night, kept the Royals within striking distance with a combination of scoring and hustle. His strong play helped Redeemer fight back, and they only trailed by one point, 45-44, at the half.

The second half, however, was a different story. Sheridan's physicality continued to dominate, and they used their size to control the boards, eventually opening up a 68-57 lead after the third quarter. The Royals were out-rebounded 58-25 for the game, and that gap in second-chance points was a major factor in the final outcome.

Though the Royals fought hard, Sheridan's depth and offensive firepower proved to be too much to handle. The Bruins didn't let up, and their transition offense kept Redeemer on their heels, making it tough for the Royals to make a run in the final frame.

Despite the loss, Parker Davis put together a spectacular individual performance. The Royals guard dropped 23 points, and added 3 rebounds, 3 assists, 3 steals, and 3 blocks. His all-around game kept Redeemer in the hunt and provided a spark when things seemed to be slipping away.

Adam Pavlik also stood out, finishing with 16 points and a team-high 6 rebounds. His effort in the paint was crucial, but even his hustle couldn't help make up for the Bruins' dominance on the boards. Still, his scoring was a positive takeaway for the Royals.

One bright spot for the Royals was their perfect performance from the free-throw line. They finished 10-for-10 from the stripe, showing their composure in that aspect of the game.
