NIAGARA, NY - The Redeemer Royals men's hockey team faced off against the Niagara University ACHA Division II squad on Friday night. Despite a strong start, the Royals were unable to hold off a relentless Niagara offence, falling 7–1.
Redeemer struck first late in the opening period when
Asher Cabral found the back of the net, assisted by
Hudson Kosloski and
Adam Beatty. The Royals carried that momentum until the closing moments of the frame, when Niagara capitalized in the dying seconds to tie the game 1–1 heading into the intermission.
The second period proved to be the turning point. Niagara scored five unanswered goals, pulling ahead 6–1 and taking full control of the game. They would add one more in the third to seal the 7–1 victory.
With the loss, Redeemer falls to 0–4 on the season but will look to bounce back in a big way on Saturday, October 25, when they host the Niagara University AAU Division II team. The matchup marks the Royals' second home game of the year, as they aim to regroup and earn their first win of the campaign.
