STONEY CREEK, ON - The Redeemer Royals hockey team stormed back from an early deficit to defeat Buffalo State in thrilling fashion on home ice.
Buffalo State stunned the home crowd early, netting two quick goals to take control of the game. Redeemer responded late in the opening period when Hayden Fernhout buried a rebound, assisted by Hudson Kosloski, cutting the lead in half and swinging momentum back to the Royals.
That momentum carried into the second period, where the Royals came out flying. Just 20 seconds in, captain Carson Torrie tied the game with a blast from the slot, assisted by Jake Voskamp and Tucker Copeland.Â
Moments later, Copeland gave Redeemer their first lead of the night, finishing off a breakaway chance set up beautifully by Adam Beatty and Asher DeBoer. Buffalo managed to tie things back up before the end of the frame, sending the teams into the third period knotted at three.
The final period was all Redeemer. The Royals dominated possession and poured on four unanswered goals to seal the win. The eventual game-winner came from Jax Ackland, who buried a rebound in front of the net to ignite the crowd. From there, Redeemer never looked back, capping off one of their most complete performances of the season.
Final Score: Redeemer 7 – Buffalo State 3
