ETOBICOKE, ON - The Redeemer Royals Women's Indoor Soccer team entered the OCAA Indoor Provincial Championships, hosted by the Centennial Colts, with high expectations. After a successful qualifying tournament, they were considered one of the favourites to advance to Day 2 of the competition, but despite a solid start, their journey ended earlier than hoped.
The Royals kicked off their tournament with a 1-0 win over the host Centennial Colts. It was a close and competitive match, but the Royals managed to secure the victory with a strong defensive performance and a clinical finish. With the three points in hand, the team seemed to be on the right track, and their confidence was high heading into their second match of the day.
However, things didn't go as planned in their second game against Durham College. Despite showing grit and determination, Redeemer fell 3-1. Durham's clinical finishing and strong offensive play proved to be too much for the Royals, and their hopes of securing a spot in the next day were put in jeopardy.
With their backs against the wall, the Royals faced Conestoga College in their final match of the day. The team fought hard and showed plenty of heart, but despite several strong attacking chances, they couldn't find the back of the net. In a tight contest, Conestoga managed to grab a 1-0 win, sealing Redeemer's exit from the tournament.
Entering the day as one of the top contenders, the Royals' two losses meant they were unable to advance to Day 2.Â
Redeemer Soccer will return this fall for the OCAA Soccer season.Â
