ANCASTER, ON - The Redeemer University women's volleyball program is excited to announce the signing of Naomi Huygen, a 6'0" Opposite from Fort McMurray, Alberta.
A soon-to-be graduate of École McTavish High School, Huygen brings a strong volleyball résumé and years of leadership experience to the Royals. She competed with the Fort McMurray Thunder Volleyball club program.
Huygen has been immersed in the sport since Grade 4 and has consistently demonstrated leadership throughout her career. She served as captain at the 14U and 15U levels and again during her Grade 11 high school season. A left-handed right side with a commanding 6'0" frame, she thrives in high-intensity environments and embraces the process of continual growth. Her passion for hard work, competitive practices, and team culture makes her a natural fit for the Royals program.
"I have heard so many good and positive things about Redeemer," Huygen shared. "My sister and cousin both attend, and being closer to my family in Ontario is something I'm really excited about. Living in Fort McMurray, I was only able to attend a Christian school until Grade 9, so the opportunity to attend a Christian university and be part of a team where we share the same beliefs and values is something I truly look forward to."
Faith will play a central role in Huygen's journey as a Royal. She is eager to build Christ-centered relationships and be part of a community rooted in shared values. "I want my faith to be the foundation of all my relationships at Redeemer," she said. "Knowing I'll have teammates and coaches who can pray with me and support me through challenges, whether it's being away from home or a tough practice, gives me so much confidence and peace."
Huygen is a perfect fit, her skill, leadership, and faith-driven perspective makes her an exciting addition to Redeemer women's volleyball. The Royals family looks forward to welcoming Naomi to Ancaster and watching her make an impact both on the court and in the community.
