ANCASTER, ON - Redeemer Royals men's basketball guard
Jackson Thackwray has earned national recognition, being named a finalist for the prestigious NCCAA "Pistol Pete" Maravich Award.
The award is presented annually to the top student-athlete in NCCAA Men's Basketball, recognizing excellence in competition, skill, academics, and Christian service throughout a player's career. Named after basketball legend "Pistol Pete" Maravich, the honour reflects not only elite on-court ability, but also a commitment to faith and character. Maravich was widely known for his incredible ball handling, shooting, and creativity, later becoming an NBA All-Star, one of the league's 50 greatest players, and a Hall of Fame inductee. In the later years of his life, he devoted himself to his Christian faith, using his platform to point others to Christ.
Thackwray's selection as a finalist highlights the impact he has made in all areas of the game. A leader within the Royals program, he has consistently demonstrated a high level of performance on the court, while also excelling academically and embracing opportunities to serve and lead off the court.
Throughout his career at Redeemer, Thackwray has embodied what it means to be a complete student-athlete, representing the program with integrity, discipline, and a strong foundation of faith.
Being named a finalist for one of the NCCAA's most distinguished individual honours is a testament to Thackwray's dedication and the lasting impact he has made on the Royals community.
