ANCASTER, ON - The Redeemer University men's volleyball program is proud to announce the signing of Nathan Schwarz, a middle blocker from Burlington, ON.
A soon-to-be graduate of Nelson High School, Schwarz brings a unique athletic journey to the Royals. He competed in AAA hockey from 2014 to 2020 before making the switch to volleyball in Grade 10. The transition proved to be a strong one. In his senior year, he was named MVP of both the senior boys volleyball and senior boys hockey teams and earned the award as the Most Dedicated Senior Male Athlete, a reflection of his competitiveness and commitment.
This past season also marked his first year of club volleyball, competing with MAC 18U Titanium as he continued to develop as a middle blocker.
"I'm most excited to be a part of the overall culture at Redeemer," Schwarz shared. "I've always admired how after each home game all the sports teams pray for the other school."
Schwarz will be studying theology at Redeemer, something that naturally connects to his desire to grow alongside his teammates. He's looking forward to being on a team where conversations about faith are normal and encouraged, and where what he's learning in the classroom can carry into everyday life.
"I'm studying theology, so I'm looking forward to having good conversations with the guys on the team," he said. "I want to use my faith by being an example both on and off the court through my actions and words."
With a strong multi-sport background, a physical presence in the middle, and a steady approach to leadership, Schwarz adds depth, skill and character to the Royals program. The Redeemer community is excited to welcome Nathan to the RU Royal Family and looks forward to his growth in the years ahead.
