ANCASTER, ON - The Redeemer Royals Men's Basketball team has announced the signing of Gabriel Obusan, who joins the program from Mississauga, Ontario.
Obusan is a graduate of St. Martin's Catholic Secondary School and brings a unique basketball background to the Royals. He played one year at Georgian College in 2023 before departing for the Philippines, where he spent two years playing overseas.
During his time in the Philippines, Obusan gained experience competing against professional-level competition and players from around the world, providing him with a diverse basketball background as he returns to Canada.
For Obusan, joining the Royal Family is about more than basketball. The culture at Redeemer was a major factor in what excites him about becoming a Royal.
"The culture is what excites me the most. I always want to keep the Lord in the center of my life, and at Redeemer I can accomplish that with a very good education."
Faith will continue to be an important part of Obusan's experience as a student-athlete. He says he will lean on his faith through both the challenges and successes that come with his time at Redeemer.
"In everything I do, He is the stronghold of my life so in any hardship and triumph, God is with me every step of the way."
Obusan now joins the Royals with collegiate and international playing experience as he begins the next chapter of his basketball career at Redeemer.
