ANCASTER, ON -
Ben Brouwer has been named both the CCAA Athlete of the Week and the OCAA Athlete of the Week following a standout performance that showcased one of the strongest outings of his career. Brouwer recorded 53 assists, 15 digs, and 3 aces in Redeemer's recent match, earning national and provincial recognition for his impact.
Brouwer's 53 assists place him firmly in the program's record book. He finished just one assist shy of the all-time single match record of 54, set by Pearson Stiller on January 13, 2017. Stiller is regarded as one of the best setters the program has produced, and Brouwer's performance puts him right alongside that elite company. This marks only the fifth time a Royals setter has reached the 50 assist milestone, and Brouwer becomes the fourth different setter to do it.
He also directed the Royals offense to a .358 hitting percentage, one of the most efficient team performances of the season. His distribution, decision making, and ability to elevate his hitters were central to Redeemer's strong showing.
The dual Athlete of the Week honours highlight the magnitude of Brouwer's performance and the leadership he continues to bring to the Royals offense.
