Hoogland Named Finalist for Major NCCAA Award

ANCASTER, ON - Redeemer Royals women's basketball standout Abigail Hoogland has been recognized on the national stage, earning runner-up honours for the prestigious NCCAA Kathy Freese-Peabody Award.

The award is presented annually to a student-athlete who exemplifies the mission of the NCCAA by combining athletic excellence with a strong commitment to Christian faith and character. Named after longtime coach and leader Kathy Freese-Peabody, the award reflects her lasting impact on the association, highlighted by three NCCAA National Championship appearances, her dedication to the growth of women's basketball, and her leadership as a national chairperson.

Hoogland's recognition as runner-up speaks to her influence both on and off the court. A key member of the Royals program, she has consistently demonstrated leadership, integrity, and a team-first mindset, while also embodying the spiritual values that define Redeemer Athletics.

Throughout her career, Hoogland has not only contributed at a high level in competition but has also embraced the deeper purpose of collegiate athletics within the NCCAA, using sport as a platform for faith, growth, and community.

Her selection as runner-up for this national honour is a testament to her character, dedication, and the impact she continues to make within the Royals program and beyond.
