ANCASTER, ON - The Redeemer Royals Men's Basketball program is excited to announce the signing of Tochi Nwokeke, a talented wing/forward from Angus, Ontario, who will join the program for the upcoming season.
A graduate of Nottawasaga Pines Secondary School, the Angus native arrives at Redeemer after an outstanding high school career that was highlighted by team success and individual recognition. He played four years of varsity basketball while also competing with the Simcoe United Spartans.
During his time at Nottawasaga Pines, he helped lead the program to three consecutive SCAA Championships. In his senior season, he guided the school to its first-ever GBSAA Championship before helping the team earn a silver medal at the AA OFSAA Championship in the school's first appearance at the provincial tournament.
At the club level, he competed with the Simcoe United Spartans, contributing to multiple successful tournament runs, including an NPH Summer League Championship in 2025. His strong play throughout his senior season also earned him Simcoe County All-Star honours.
For the newest Royal, the decision to join Redeemer was about much more than basketball.
"What excites me most about being part of the Royal Family is the sense of community and culture surrounding the program. From the first time I visited campus and met the coaches and players, I could tell Redeemer was a place where people genuinely care about each other both on and off the court. I'm excited to compete at the next level, continue growing as a player, and build strong relationships with teammates who push each other to succeed. I'm also excited to be part of a program that values faith, character, and development just as much as basketball. I'm ready to keep growing as an important player on this team and an even better man of God."
Faith also played a significant role in his decision to become a Royal and will continue to guide his journey as a student-athlete.
"My faith will be the foundation of my time at Redeemer as a student-athlete. I want to use my platform to encourage and support others, lead by example, and represent Christ through the way I compete, work, and treat people around me. I believe faith is about consistency, humility, and serving others, and I hope to bring those values into the locker room, classroom, and campus community. Being part of a Christ-centered environment is something that really stood out to me about Redeemer, and I'm excited to continue growing spiritually while pursuing my athletic and academic goals."
The Royals are excited to welcome another championship-calibre athlete to the program and look forward to seeing his impact both on the court and within the Redeemer community.
