ANCASTER, ON - The Redeemer Royals men's basketball program is pleased to announce the commitment of local forward Eric Krygel for the upcoming season.

A native of Dundas, Ontario, Krygel joins the Royals after graduating from St. Mary Catholic Secondary School. He most recently played with New Horizon Prep, where he served as captain of the regional team during the 2022-23 season before spending the past three years as a practice redshirt with the University of Windsor men's basketball program.

His experience competing in a university environment, combined with his leadership background, will add valuable maturity to the Royals roster.
For Krygel, the opportunity to represent Redeemer is about more than basketball.

"I look forward to being a part of a tight-knit school community, close to my hometown. I am very familiar with the school. I look forward to joining a program that places an emphasis on not only athletics but also one which prioritizes each athlete's faith, and academics."

As he begins his journey with the Royals, Krygel hopes to make an impact both on and off the court by living out his faith and investing in those around him.

"I believe it is important to share my faith within my team, classrooms and any other environments during my time at Redeemer. I think especially with younger athletes coming into the school, it's critical to make sure they trust in their faith and trust that they are on the journey which God has planned for each and every one of us. The same goes for younger generations within the community, whether that be through the Liberty for Youth event or the Redeemer men's basketball summer camp in August. I believe in instilling a faith-based approach into each young athlete's approach to not only sport, but also day-to-day life."

The Royals are excited to welcome Eric and his family to the program and look forward to seeing him contribute to the team's success while embracing Redeemer's commitment to excellence in athletics, academics, and faith.
