ANCASTER, ON - Redeemer Royals Hockey is pleased to welcome Matthew Sikma to the program.

Sikma, a centre from Norwich, joins Redeemer after playing seven years with the Woodstock Jr. Navy Vets.  He was honoured to serve as an assistant captain for multiple years.

"What we're getting in Matthew is a mature and driven young man. His compete and desire to get better every day is evident every time he touches the ice. Both his hockey IQ and quick-release shot continually set him apart from his peers in the recruiting process. He will have a great impact on our culture of faith and excellence in his time with us. We are very excited to welcome him to the Royal family today," said Head Coach Isaiah Thornback.

A graduate of London Christian High, Sikma is looking forward to continuing both his hockey career and his faith journey at Redeemer.

"I have heard great things about the Redeemer community, and I am looking forward to being a part of a Christian team," Sikma said. "It excites me to have the ability to play a sport that I love with people that share the same faith as me."

As he begins his time with the Royals, Sikma hopes to make an impact through his approach both on and off the ice.

"I hope to lead by example through my attitude and hard work while glorifying God in everything I do," Sikma said.

Sikma now joins the Royals as they continue to build their hockey program for the upcoming season.
