Harris' outstanding leadership and historic success with the Royals Men's Volleyball team from 2008 to 2013 has left its mark on Redeemer Athletics. During his five-season tenure, Harris guided the Royals to an impressive 57 wins and 29 losses, steering the team to four OCAA Championship appearances and securing three OCAA medals: a bronze in 2009-10, a silver in 2010-11, and another bronze in 2012-13.
Under his guidance, Redeemer Men's Volleyball captured the program's first OCAA league sport medal in 2009-10.
Harris was also recognized on multiple occasions by his coaching peers as he was named OCAA Coach of the Year in 2009-2010 and CCAA Coach of the Year in 2013.
"Wayne Harris' legacy extends beyond the wins and medals; he helped transform the culture of Royals Men's Volleyball," said James Kryger, Director of Athletics. "His commitment to his players and relentless pursuit of excellence raised the standard of Redeemer Athletics."
A skilled recruiter, Harris expanded the program's reach across Canada, including team trips out West. He provided his teams with competitive opportunities that contributed to their overall success, which is still talked about today.
Harris's influence was also felt in his ability to develop talent. During his five seasons, he coached 11 OCAA All-Stars, 3 All-Canadians, and 1 OCAA Player of the Year. He led a 5-6 team in the 2007-08 season to an outstanding 12-4 record in 2008-2009, cementing his place as one of the most successful coaches in Redeemer Royals history.
