Women's Basketball on Pace for First Ever Playoff Spot

Lady Royals finish first half with loss to Hawks

Box Score If the season were to end today, the Redeemer Royals Women's Basketball team would find themselves in their first ever playoff game. Sitting in a tie for 5th place in the OCAA West with a 4-5 record, the Royals have had their best start in program history.

Redeemer has won 3 games in the first semester 3 times (1992-93, 2003-04, 2004-05) but has never won 4. The Royals will also be looking to beat their previous high of wins in a season set at 6 in 2003-04.

Despite a 3-game losing streak to end the season, the Royals remain positive. Redeemer countered the streak with a 4-game winning streak in the middle half of the first semester. The 3 loses to finish the first half also came against 3 of the top 5 teams in the Province.

One of those teams was the 9-0 Humber Hawks that defeated the Royals on Thursday night 83-63. Redeemer's Jesseca Brown continued her torid start to the season, scorching the Hawks for a game-high 29 points. She added 6 rebounds and 6 steals.

Redeemer opens up 2016 on January 8th at home against Niagara College.
