ANCASTER, ON - Redeemer Royals Men's Volleyball has added another key piece to its 2026 recruiting class, announcing the signing of Sammy Nowkawalk of Kincardine, Ontario.
Nowkawalk becomes the Royals' second recruit of the year and brings leadership, experience, and defensive consistency to Redeemer's backcourt. A libero, he currently competes with the Bluewater Ballistix Volleyball Club, where he began his club career at the U16 level.
Before joining the Royals, Nowkawalk built a strong foundation at the high school level. He served as team captain in both Grade 10 and Grade 12, Â an early testament to the respect he earned from teammates and coaches alike.
Beyond volleyball, Nowkawalk is eager to embrace everything that comes with joining the Royals.
"I am excited to play for the team, and to be a part of the Redeemer community," he shared when asked what excites him most about becoming a member of the Royal Family.
Faith will also play a central role in his experience as a student-athlete.
"I will allow God to lead me in the right direction," said Nowkawalk when asked how he plans to use his faith during his time at Redeemer.
As a libero, Nowkawalk is known for his defensive awareness, serve-receive reliability, and willingness to do the little things that impact winning. His leadership background and club experience position him well to make an immediate impact in the navy and red.
Redeemer Men's Volleyball looks forward to welcoming Sammy to campus and seeing the impact he will make both on and off the court as part of the RU Royal Family.
