ANCASTER, ON - The Redeemer Royals women's soccer program is excited to announce the signing of Rebekah Sikkema for the upcoming season. A dynamic left winger and left midfielder from Fonthill, Sikkema will join the Royals after an impressive multi-sport athletic career at Heritage Christian School.
Sikkema competed with the West Lincoln Travel Soccer team while also excelling in track and field with the Thorold Elite Track Team.
Her athletic versatility, work ethic, and competitive drive are qualities that will add strength to the Royals lineup as she transitions to the collegiate level.
What excites Sikkema most about joining the Royals is the opportunity to be part of a Christ-centered environment while continuing to grow both athletically and spiritually.
"Just to be part of a vivid Christian community and growing in my faith alongside the girls on the soccer team," said Sikkema. "I'm looking forward to seeing what the Lord has in store for this new chapter of my life with new people to meet, friendships to build, and a shared love of the sport to help us work together towards our goals."
Faith has played a central role throughout Sikkema's athletic journey, and she hopes to carry those lessons with her during her time at Redeemer.
"I hope to transfer the life lessons that God has taught me throughout my high school athletic career into both my studies and athletics at Redeemer," she shared. "He's taught me the importance of representing Him as an athlete — in my discipline, attitude, and worship."
Sikkema also emphasized the importance of keeping God at the center of every opportunity she has been given.
"Just because I was given this gift or talent doesn't mean it is my own. All the glory goes back to Him," she said. "I hope to bring 1 Corinthians 10:31 with me into the fall, knowing that in all I do I represent God and all the glory goes to Him."
As she prepares to begin her journey with the Royals, Sikkema is eager to continue developing as both a student-athlete and follower of Christ. Her commitment to faith, teamwork, and excellence makes her a strong addition to the women's soccer program and the broader Redeemer community.
