ANCASTER, ON - From Airdrie, Alberta, to the RU Royal family, Redeemer Royals is excited to welcome Rebecca Henshaw to the women's basketball program.

A forward from Airdrie, Henshaw joins the Royals after a career at École des Hautes-Plaines. Since beginning her basketball journey, she has developed into a leader on and off the court, earning multiple MVP and leadership awards throughout tournaments and school athletics. Her achievements were highlighted by being named Female Athlete of the Year.

Henshaw's passion for the game has continued to grow through the encouragement and experiences she has received throughout her career, and she now looks forward to bringing that passion to the next chapter at Redeemer.

"What excites me the most about being part of the RU Royal Family is knowing we all share the same goal and belief," said Henshaw. "We are all there to make an effort to serve God and use this as an act of worship to Him."

For Henshaw, Redeemer offers more than just the opportunity to compete at the next level. She is excited to be part of a close-knit team environment where faith and athletics go hand in hand.

"I have never had the opportunity to play basketball with a team that will be so tightly knit, and I can't wait for this experience to make deeper connections and good friendships," she shared. "Having only been on a team where very few people are believers, I am really looking forward to this opportunity to share the same faith as my teammates."

As she begins her journey with the Royals, Henshaw hopes to make an impact through both her play and her character. Guided by her faith, she wants to represent Christ in every aspect of her student-athlete experience.

"I will use my faith to impact my time by going out onto the court knowing and showing that it's God that leads my life and no other," said Henshaw. "I want to be able to serve God by demonstrating Christ-like qualities such as humility, love, kindness and patience. I believe that by showing these qualities while on the court, whether to my teammates or opponents, I, through Christ, can have an impact on others and it's all for His glory."

The Royals are excited to welcome Rebecca to the program and look forward to seeing the impact she will make within the Redeemer community both on and off the court.
